All I Want for Christmas...is a grant for my SME


With Christmas less than 2 months away, we’ve prepared an early stocking stuffer for innovative SMEs and start-ups - a list of grants currently open that could provide your business with a New Year cash boost.


Below are further details on current grant programs across three key areas of support including research and innovation, energy efficiency and clean energy tech, and advanced or innovative manufacturing.

Grants to support research and innovation investment

Grants to drive energy efficiency and clean technology

  • Made In Victoria: Energy Technologies Manufacturing – grants between $100,000 and $750,000 to support Victorian manufacturers to make more products or components that support the transition towards net zero emissions. Closes 19 December 2023.

  • Queensland Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Grantgrants between $5,000 and $25,000 to support Queensland SME manufacturers to implement energy efficiency measures that reduce energy costs and operational emissions for projects. Closes 30 June 2024.

  • NSW Metering & Monitoring programgrants up to $15,000 to support NSW businesses to establish comprehensive metering and monitoring plans to facilitate energy productivity improvements. Open until funding exhausted.

  • ARENA Driving the Nation programgrants between $500,000 and $15mill to support the uptake of Battery Electric Vehicles through innovation in public charging or innovation in the management of charging. Open until funding exhausted.

Grants supporting advanced or innovative manufacturing

  • Made In Queensland (Round 6)grants between $50,000 and $2.5mill for Queensland-based SME manufacturers to invest in advanced manufacturing technologies to improve productivity, profitability and international competitiveness. Closes 11 December 2023.

  • South Australian Economic Recovery Fund (Round 1) grants between $150,000 and $1mill, as well as loans of up to $5mill, to assist South Australian business in key areas to grow secure, well-paid jobs, improve productivity, increase exports and support innovative, value adding technologies. The two streams for Round 1 include Manufacturing Innovation and Regional Tourism Infrastructure Development. Closes 15 December 2023.

  • Made In Victoria: Manufacturing Growth Program (Round 2)grants between $50,000 and $250,000 for SME manufacturers on a growth trajectory to support investments in new equipment and technology as part of an expansion of their Victorian manufacturing operations. Closes 19 December 2023.
