The EMDG Program

The Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) program is a flagship AusTrade initiative to support Australian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to seek and expand promotional opportunities for their goods, services and intellectual property in key export markets.

Round 4 of the program represents a revamped and expanded program looking to provide more funding for eligible applicants, on a ‘first-come first-served’ basis. As such, those SMEs looking to secure funding for their planned export activities need to get grant ready in preparation for Round 4 of the EMDG opening on 12 November 2024.

Round 4 of the EMDG program offers 1:1 matched funding for planned expenditure for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 financial periods and offers from $40,000 to $160,000 over the two-year period, based on the Tier allocations below:

  • Tier 1, ‘Ready to Export’ - $20,000 to $30,000 per year.

  • Tier 2, ‘Exporting within existing markets’ - $20,000 to $50,000 per year.

  • Tier 3, ‘Exporting to new markets’ - $20,000 to $80,000 per year.
