Ridley Corporation is accessing the R&D Tax Incentive to help them drive innovation in Australian agriculture by providing advanced, sustainable animal nutrition solutions that assist farmers to enhance animal health and productivity while reducing environmental impact.

The Client

Ridley Agriproducts is Australia’s leading provider of high-performance animal nutrition solutions, producing close to 2mill tonnes of finished feeds annually for Australia’s dairy, poultry, pig, beef, horse, sheep, pet food and aquaculture industries. The company has a long history of innovation and R&D investment as it pursues the development of new, advanced feeding products and improved feeding practices.

Ridley has applied for government funding to support its ongoing R&D initiatives and identified the need for external advice to supplement its existing internal resources for managing its R&D tax incentive processes.

The Solution

When approached by Ridley, Intellect Labs was able to offer a flexible combination of services to supplement Ridley’s highly capable R&D and financial team and integrate with its annual R&D tax claim process.

The services provided by Intellect Labs have included:

  • delivery of a bespoke program of R&D tax incentive training and ad hoc support for internal personnel,

  • legislative and IP landscape analysis, and strategic advice to progress the registration of overseas activities under the R&D tax incentive program,

  • sample R&D activity and expenditure analysis to enhance annual R&D claim outcomes,

  • project documentation review and recommendations to improve record-keeping and Ridley’s broader R&D management processes.

The Result

Intellect Labs has helped Ridley’s internal R&D and financial personnel to rapidly upskill their knowledge of the R&D tax incentive program requirements, with the delivery of customised training on topics particularly relevant to the business.

In addition, Ridley’s R&D management processes have been verified and supplemented with recommendations to improve R&D tax claim outcomes in a manner that is fully compliant with the legislative requirements. Ridley now has a stronger understanding of the scope of activities and costs that are eligible for annual R&D tax benefits. It has also successfully implemented improved methods for managing its R&D initiatives that will benefit the business long-term.
