An end-to-end automated web operations platform

Dataweavers

With the help of the R&D Tax Incentive (‘RDTI’) program, Dataweavers is investing in R&D to deliver innovative solutions for deploying complex enterprise marketing technology and Digital Experience Platforms (DXPs) in the public cloud.

The Client

Dataweavers is an innovative tech scale-up based in Brisbane that is tackling the challenges faced by organisations that utilise complex marketing technology (MarTech) and DXPs. Typically, businesses create their own ‘MarTech Stack’, centred on a core platform, and then integrate several other solutions into a combination of technologies to collect different types of customer data and to facilitate digital experiences of customers.

Dataweavers identified the significant complexities and lengthy timeframes faced by companies deploying and configuring MarTech systems. Instead, the team at Dataweavers set about developing clever scripts to distil the deployment of complex MarTech stacks in the public cloud in a manner that is highly automated, and significantly more time and cost efficient than existing approaches.

The RDTI program presented an obvious program to offset the costs of developing and testing these innovative solutions. However, satisfying the regulators that software R&D activities are eligible can be difficult given the multi-faceted and complex nature of these types of R&D initiatives.

The Solution

Intellect Labs has provided Dataweavers with guidance regarding how software development activities interact with the RDTI requirements. The process has involved in-depth discussions with Dataweavers technical team to understand all aspects of their R&D activities. Intellect Labs has taken carriage of all the steps needed to navigate the claim process, answering questions along the way, and providing clear and transparent advice to ensure Dataweavers is confident in the quality of its claim.

The support provided by Intellect Labs has continued over multiple years and multiple successful RDTI claims. While the R&D activities have progressed and evolved, the assistance has remained comprehensive with a review of R&D progress undertaken prior to year-end before the claim is completed well in time for tax return lodgement.

The Result

Over multiple years, Intellect Labs has helped Dataweavers secure valuable tax offsets to support continued the ongoing R&D initiatives. The RDTI program will continue to be a valuable form of government support for the R&D being pursued and central to Dataweavers’ strategic goals.
